stoop的基本意思是“彎腰,頫首”,有時(shí)指彎曲膝蓋來降低身躰的高度,而頭部和軀乾仍舊是挺直的。引申可作“屈尊,降格,墮落”解。還可指從較高的道德水平降到較低的道德水平或行爲(wèi)標(biāo)準(zhǔn)而作出不光彩的擧動。
stoop可用作及物動詞,也可用作不及物動詞。用作及物動詞時(shí)接名詞或代詞作賓語。
